This Crazy Thing, Life

Well, it was an early morning today. A certain little boy of ours woke up and didn’t fall asleep until just now. After I have woken up a bit and gotten the older one up. Isn’t that how it goes?

Started a bible study yesterday morning about marriage. It seems to be going pretty well but, of course, I haven’t read today’s verses yet. One part I read yesterday said and I quote,

“She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden. First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She senses the worth of her work, is in no hurry to call it quits for the day. She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking. She’s quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor. She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear. She makes her own clothing, and dresses in colorful linens and silks. She designs gowns and sells them, brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops. Her clothes are well-made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile. When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly. She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive.”

I am definitely not up before dawn and the days I do prepare breakfast for my whole family is only on the weekends. My husband is up by 6:00-6:30 and has a bowl of Cheerios with a banana, usually. I can feed the two little ones, does that count?

I don’t organize my day. I just know what I have to do today. However, I rarely get everything done that I need to. For example, I should be making breakfast, doing laundry, and cleaning the living room. Instead, I am sitting on the couch and watching The New Adventures of Old Christine. The show is strange and I can’t find the remote, another reason I need to be cleaning.

I hardly get dressed. Usually throw on a shirt and parade around the apartment in undergarments. Who wants to wear clothes when you don’t have to?

I don’t plant gardens or grow our own food. Although, I did try growing vegetables this last year and hope to do better next year.

I don’t make our clothes. And hardly mend them. Not all that skilled in arts and crafts and what not.

I don’t always have a smile on my face when thinking about tomorrow.

I don’t always have something that should be said but, it sometimes gets said any way. I don’t always use the proper tone of voice.

I don’t keep a productive schedule or a productive household.

Well, I am thinking that I really should make breakfast for me and my little man. And start cleaning house. We have the cable guy coming today and the house is super messy.

And I think our oldest just ate the rest of the Butterfinger candy bar. Major fail on my part! Think it’s time for breakfast much?!

More later, if I can. Or maybe just tomorrow…

  1. Girl, you do good. That chapter was written a long time ago, by a man, about a hypothetical woman. Think Martha Stewart? Lol.

The big thing is that your people have what they need and that they are loved. Solomon can come do the housework if it’s so important.

    1. Lol! T, you’re awesome!!!

Yeah, I was gonna write but, I do my best. Doctor visits, meals, baths, love, etc. Just ran outta time with hungry and crying kiddos. But, thanks T!!! Love you!

  2. I have heard it said that this chapter covers a woman over her whole life, not one day….At some time in her life she does each of these. I agree with T, give ’em love and what they need, and that is success as a mom. And you do good!
